European Space Agency Spacecraft Fails To Undock From International Space Station

The European Space Agency’s (ESA) third Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV-3) was scheduled to undock from the International Space Station’s Zvezda service module on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 6:36 p.m. EDT, but had been postponed due to a communication issue with the command panel inside Zvezda.
The ESA said on its website that both the space station and the ATV-3 are safe and a new undocking procedure date will be announced later.
The Expedition 33 crew closed up the hatches to the craft on Monday and prepared to monitor the departure. The malfunction was noticed shortly before undocking procedures began.
ATV-3 is loaded with waste and rubbish for disposal, and once undocking occurs, will be jettisoned into the South Pacific.
