The thick atmosphere of Titan makes Saturn’s largest moon look fuzzy and orange. In this “natural” color image of Titan, its north polar hood is visible at the top of the image, along with a blue haze above the south pole (bottom). also can be detected above the south pole at the bottom of this view. The most recent images of Titan suggest that the north polar vortex is in the process of “flipping” from north to south.
Designed, developed and assembled at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, The Cassini-Huygens mission is a joint effort between NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency. NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory manages the mission on behalf of NASA.
