ISU and Florida Tech Seal Partnership; Sign MOU

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Florida Institute of Technology announced today that it and International Space University (ISU) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the intention of further cooperation between the two institutions. The agreement was signed at ISU in Strasbourg, France, in November. Signing the document were T. Dwayne McCay, Florida Tech executive vice president and chief operating officer, and Walter Peeters, ISU president.

The relationship between ISU and Florida Tech began in summer 2012 when the ISU Space Studies Program took place in Florida, hosted by Florida Tech and Kennedy Space Center.

“It was very quickly evident that Florida Tech possessed a wealth of space knowledge and was an asset for the program participants. Florida Tech, with a large international student body, also was accustomed to working with a group of international participants,” said ISU President Peeters.

The parties foresee a spectrum of joint study activities, including lecturer and student exchanges.

“Occasionally one is fortunate enough to develop a relationship that makes both institutions better. Last summer this happened for Florida Tech when ISU used our campus for nine weeks. The MOU we signed extends those opportunities for at least the next five years and, we hope, even longer,” said McCay.
