Auroras already arcing across sky in Scandinavia

WASHINGTON – The massive sunspot identified as AR1654, which is spewing solar flares, has scientists saying that a portion of a coronal mass ejection is expected to brush Earth’s magnetic field, creating what observers say are bright auroras around the Arctic Circle.

Already, scientists say, the CME’s arrival on the solar winds is creating auroras arcing across the skies of northern Scandinavia.

Scientists from the National Aeronautic and Space Administration and the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration say this reveals the potential for a solar storm maximum as the sun approaches the height of its latest 11-year cycle this year and next.

Flares are expected to continue into 2020.

Scientists at these space-watch agencies say that if Earth gets a direct hit from one of these solar flares – some of which can be up to four times the size of Earth – the damage could be enormous.

The United States alone would sustain damages up to $2 trillion the first year to the nation’s electric grid-dependent critical infrastructures. In addition, it could leave some 160 million people – more than half the population of the United States – starving because of the collapse of food and fuel delivery systems.

  • The sun and the entire cosmos was created by, and remains under the governance of the Lord who came down from Heaven and died on a cross to redeem the world. The sun answers to the God of Love that created it. So don’be be afraid of anything it does. Only fear sin which separates men from God’s goodness and blessings.

    • That guy again, man you sure do give Jesus a lot of credit for something that didn’t happen, and a lot of blame for stuff that happened 2000 years after he died.

    • Hey Anonymous religious person – if god created the sun on the fourth day, how did he tell the time for the other three? (A day on earth is calculated by Earth’s rotation with the sun FYI). I’d love to hear your explanation.

      • First day: Genesis 1:3-5

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

    • Heaven is space so how exactly did he come down from space to create space riddle me that.

      • Heaven is not space, space is not empty, your vision is currently limited to gross matter. Have you ever seen a magnetic field? The answer is no, and neither has science, you can see it’s effects, you can measure it, you can manipulate gross matter with it, but you can not see it.

Jesus is Lord, He walked on water, healed the sick and raised the dead. Furthermore He has the world’s all time best seller to say it happened.

Jesus is Lord, praise the Lord! Every knee is going to bend and every tongue will profess that Jesus Christ is Lord!

  • Nice sentiment anonymous! However, since the time of the Messiahs arrival roughly 2000 years ago there has been plenty of calamity, war, and devastation throughout His creation. If He is Sovereign then those things are under HIS control as well. The anarchy that would prevail throughout this land, if we went off line due to a solar flare, would be monumental, to say the least. The chaos would be equal to the depravity of the lost that inhabits the land. God promised never to destroy the world like He did in the time of Noah but that doesn’t mean we have gained temporal immunity from consequences of our actions. While God is long suffering and merciful, sin and rebellion must be judged because God is first, and foremost, Holy! It wouldn’t surprise at all to see something catastrophic befall our nation. Especially in light of what passes for morality in this country. We are a nation that does what it likes, when it likes, and moral absoluteness, for many, is nothing more than a foot note. Do not be deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man soweth, that shall he also reap! When man rebels against His creator, scary stuff is guaranteed to happen and history is a testament to the inescapable fact!

    • Really? So how come the crappiest stuff happens in the most religious places?

      • Is New York one of the most religious places? As well, please define what you mean by “the most religious places.” To that end, please define what you mean by religious. The USA is a very religious place and we still enjoy a quality of life that many, if not most, will never experience.

  • the solar flares knocked out the telegraphs around the turn of the century. now that we are so computer and energy dependent on other people, much chaos could happen. i don’t like to be a fear monger, but i would get some food and gas supplies. the emt’s from the sun could knock out your car. probably more likely emt’s would knock out running cars. i read that the government could update our energy grid, but that it would be expensive. also, there is a protective system in space to block solar flares, but i read that needs updating too. we run on technology these days. what would things be like without computers? like the good ole days, i suppose. maybe our Creator would like to test us or teach us a lesson? he does that all the time. remember joseph was sold to egypt by his brothers and he ended up saving the tribes of israel? remember paul went blind to show him his real blindness and he ended up writing much of the new testament? not all bad things that happen are from the devil.

    • i was tired yesterday. i mean emp’s not emt’s. electro-magnetic pulses. that would be from the cme’s. yep.

  • i thought about it. some bad things do happen from the devil. OKAY?

  • Thanks for the LIGHT….. that shines here through the day…..

But what might be up there, in that fiery ball….. We do believe in conflicting versions of the same heavens concurrently…..

  • The article clearly says the sun has the “potential” to form catastrophic CMEs. NOT this particular instance is one of them.

  • come on you guys bible bash else where , this is science or psuedo science we are dealing with here , not mythology , the same guys who invented man made G.W/carbon are the same guys who conned you guys with religion only the bloodlines of a different generation , I smell something?? ….. $$$$$$$$$ respect to all deceived and undeceived

  • we put our trust in technology and money, god gave us food naturally growing and under the treesw ,this is where we shall eat again,no one collected seeds while they could, instead grabbed gold and silver in a huge hording to “sava” themselves.
guess what there will be nothing to spend it on.the rich will starve along with the poor

  • False Flag Nonsense

    • Nonsense? It’s happened before its only a matter of time before it happens again the only difference is we are 1000 times more dependent on technology then we were back then

  • I like monkeys

  • I check the Solar numbers almost every day, and this includes CME warnings. I am a Ham and do this in order to see what the propagation is for long distance radio communications. I checked it today, and the Sun is quiet right now. There were no CME (coronal mass ejections) warnings and the Sun is very stable right now. It doesn’t mean there won’t be future ejections. As far as this 11 year Solar Cycle is concerned, the activity of the Sun has been dissapointing for long distance communications. Some are predicting the peak in the cycle sometime this year, but who knows? Sure, Old Sol could become a Red Giant next week, but I would bet against it. We don’t know what’s on the back side of the Sun that will come around to face us. These Solar scientists are very serious about what they do, and much of what I see on the Internet is posted by people who have no clue how the Sun works. Much of this stuff is pure fear mongering
