(Before It's News)

NASA: “This artist’s concept illustrates a supermassive black hole with millions to billions times the mass of our sun. Supermassive black holes are enormously dense objects buried at the hearts of galaxies. (Smaller black holes also exist throughout galaxies.) In this illustration, the supermassive black hole at the center is surrounded by matter flowing onto the black hole in what is termed an accretion disk. This disk forms as the dust and gas in the galaxy falls onto the hole, attracted by its gravity.” MORE HERE

  • Boys and girls everywhere will be wondering how we first discovered Black Holes. The answer is; we didn’t! We only imagined them, which is altogether different, isn’t it? We imagined them because we realised that gravity is far too weak a force to hold a great big galaxy together, and keep it spinning around like a giant Catherine Wheel. So we decided that there must be a huge extra gravitational force right at the centre of the galaxy, to hold everything together. You can think of this force as being like the Big Bad Wolf that lives in the forest, or if you prefer, Jack, who lives up the Beanstalk. We couldn’t see Black Holes when we looked, just like you can’t see the wolf even though you scrunch your eyes up and stare so hard that they begin to bleed! So we decided that it must be so powerful that everything gets sucked into it, even light, which has no mass and therefore cannot be influenced by gravity.
All this is starting to sound a bit like that story called “The Emperor’s New Clothes”, isn’t it, boys and girls?
When you are all grown up, which usually happens when you are about 60, and don’t have to tell lies anymore so that you can keep working for those nice people at JPL, we will move on to the truth. For the time being however, as long as you keep the Big Secret to yourselves, have a quick look at the Electric Universe website. But do this secretly, under the bedclothes, after Mummy and Daddy put you to bed tonight. They won’t like it at all if you start to believe something which proves that they have been lying to you all these years, just like they did when they told you that Santa existed! Will they, boys and girls?
