Asteroid striking Earth

On Febuary 16th asteroid 2012 DA14 about the size of the one hit Siberia in 1908 and  caused the Tunguska event will pass close by earth .There is no cause for alarm, according to the Australian every 40 years we have a close call like this and every 1,200 years we take a hit.One this size would only could cause about a cities worth of destruction.

The Independent is reporting that A chunk of space rock 50 metres wide, weighing 130,000 tonnes and travelling at 17,400mph is set to make its closest fly-by of earth ever later this month.

The snappily named 2012 DA14 will miss earth by a mere 17,200 miles when it passes the planet inside the orbit of many of our geosynchronous communication satellites.

Despite its relatively small size the rock would produce the equivalent of 2.5 megatons of TNT if it hit earth.

Although 2012 DA14 is no threat to the planet it is just one of 500,000 rocks circling the Earth.

The asteroid, which was discovered last year, is known as a Near-Earth Object because its orbit makes it a potential impact threat at some point.

Fortunately, it will not hit us this time or at any date in the predictable future.]

There is a slight chance It might even take out a satellite?

BY most judgments, 32,000km is not a near miss, but when it involves an asteroid weighing 130,000 tonnes and circling the Sun at 29,000km/h, it is a very near miss indeed.

On the morning of February 16, Australian time, asteroid 2012 DA14 will pass our planet inside the orbit of many of our communication satellites.

Anyone hoping to improve their Valentine’s Day chances by arguing it could be one of humanity’s last nights on Earth will be disappointed, however: astronomers are certain the asteroid will miss. Travelling at 8km a second, it will do so by a margin that is vanishingly small in astronomical terms.

Scientists from NASA’s Near-Earth Object Program Office said 2012 DA14 would pass closer than any other object of its size since we have been technologically able to record their paths.

“A few other known asteroids have flown by the Earth even closer, but those asteroids were smaller,” NASA said.

  • The Tunguska event in 1908 was caused by a flying disc. Because the mainstream “alternative” UFOlogists want the Promised Land and Roswell to birth their fiction (validated by Greer and his US military pathological liars), rogue data personifying the “potential of” meteorites has cultivated disinformation. The impact of this asteroid and its effects are unknown and will not be known until and if the impact takes place.
