Seven Programs Endowed by the NASTAR Foundation

SOUTHAMPTON, Pa. — NASTAR Center and the NASTAR Foundation have announced an exciting series of one-day professional-development workshops for teachers this summer.

All workshops, which are free for teachers, will take place at NASTAR Center, one of the world’s premiere commercial space training facilities.

The programs are:

500 Years of Flight – The history of aviation and impact of technology.
Acceleration – Designed to enhance understanding of Newton’s Laws of Motion through personal centrifuge experience by 3G suborbital flight simulation.
Atmosphere and Weather – Construct simple weather instruments and more.
Solar System Exploration – Introduction to environmental conditions on the planets.
The Magic of Flight – Explains how and why airplanes fly and sessions in an   Aircraft Simulator.
Physiology of Flight – Uses NASA Summer of Innovation curricula to understand effects of space flight on human body and personally experience an 8,000 ft ascent in NASTAR’s altitude chamber.
Rocket Science – Enhance understanding of Newton’s Third Law of Motion, rocketry and space exploration.

Most workshops will be offered two or three times this summer, so teachers have a choice of dates.

All workshops are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for continuing education credit. For out-of-town participants, NASTAR has arranged special pricing for hotel/meal packages at the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia-Bucks County hotel in nearby Feasterville.

Workshops incorporate educational materials from the FAA and NASA, supplemented by NASTAR’s on-site Teacher Resource Center. For complete descriptions of the NASTAR Center’s Teacher Professional Development Programs and registration go to http://www.nastarcenter.com/education/teachers/
