The essentials of the Maya calendar are based upon a system which had been in common use throughout the region, dating back to at least the 5th century BCE. so i hope the mayans will make good on their promise to end this world and start the new era. They are off by 1 year. The world will remember their civilization as the cosmic liars sent to this planet to make it expect false ELE alarms when it needs them most.
