BP is taking liberties with the size of the comet, IMO. Other people more knowledgeable say it is less:
“The nucleus of the comet is probably 1 to 3 km in diameter, and it is coming in fast, around 56 km/s (125,000 mph). “It if does hit Mars, it would deliver as much energy as 35 million megatons of TNT.” – Don Yeomans of NASA’s Near-Earth Object Program at JPL
So, Don Yeomans is saying 3 km and the bigger estimate is from Leonid Elenin:
“With the current estimate of the absolute magnitude of the nucleus M2 = 10.3, which might indicate the diameter from 10 to 50 km…” – Leonid Elenin, February 25th, 2013.
Since this estimate was made early on, I suspect it will be estimated to be smaller as the absolute magnitude data is refined as the comet gets closer to Mars and Earth.
BTW, the final estimates of Comet ISON’s size were less than 1km. So, BP is stretching it here to make his “10 times bigger than ISON” claim.

Here’s a link to a pretty good video that shows a computer animation of what it might look like when Comet Siding Spring passes Mars:
