Around the earth moving lethal electrons that move at a speed almost equal to that of the light.
Fortunately, these charged particles will never reach the Earth because they are stopped by a previously unknown and invisible shield.
High above us, at a distance of 11,600 kilometers, is an invisible shield that protects the earth.
It causes deadly electrons can not reach the earth. These electrons move around the planet with a speed that is almost equal to that of the light and pose a threat to astronauts, satellites can damage roasting and space systems.
When they hit the Earth than they could shut down all energy networks, climate change drastically and cause all kinds of cancers.
Although scientists now know that this shield exists, they have no idea how it was formed and how it works.
Professor Daniel Baker of the University of Colorado Boulder compare the shields created Star Trek by force fields and aim to stop hostile weapons. The difference with the shield around the earth seems to be that these weapons against love, but block dangerous electrons.
The invisible shield was discovered in the Van Allen belts.
The Van Allen belts, also called radiation belts or girdles particles, two belts of charged particles around Earth. The lowest, at a distance of 2000-5000 km, consists mainly of protons. This was discovered in 1958 by the satellite, Explorer 1.
The belt is named after its discoverer James Van Allen, who insisted that the satellite would take a Geiger counter on board.

The second belt is at an altitude between 13,000 and 19,000 miles and is about 6000 km thick. This belt consists mainly of electrons and is by Pioneer 1, 2 and 3 (also in 1958) has been discovered and mapped. The particles in the outer Van Allen belt are derived from the solar wind, the particles in the inner belt (s) are derived from cosmic rays.
The invisible shield was discovered last year by Professor Baker and his team thanks to the two so-called Van Allen probes.
These are two robotic spacecraft that launched in 2012 with the specific aim to investigate the Van Allen belts.
The shield is located between the two Van Allen belts, and its size is variable and dependent on the weather in the space. According to Professor Baker, it seems that the invisible shield blocks the ultrafast electron and that therefore can not reach the earth.
“It seems as if these electrons as it were against a glass wall walk and it is altogether a mysterious place,” Baker said.
First thought the team that these electrons that roam around the earth at a speed of more than 165,000 kilometers per second would descend slowly into the atmosphere of the earth.
Thanks to the Van Allen Probes we now know that these electrons will never reach the Earth because they are stopped by an impenetrable shield for them.
