The severity of an impact is directly proportional to the speed in which the object travels. Kinetic energy is based on motion and increases with speed. So an object that is 1/4 mile wide…. or 440 yards that’s 4 and a half football fields wide. At speed, say 20k miles per hour, it would pose a significant threat. at 200k miles per hour, it could cause half the planet to starve in a few years….. at 2 million miles per hour, it would sterilize the earth.
But that’s ok… because the biggest liars on the planet state that it poses no threat.
