HEADS UP! Strong M 6.1 Class Solar Flare on Sunspot AR2222
Despite a quiet past, Region 2222 produced a R2 – moderate solar flare today. There were no immediate indications that a CME occurred with this event. The impacts from this event transpired as a Solar Radio Blackout, which affects HF radio communications (3-33 MhZ) on the daylight side of Earth at the time of the flare. In this instance, without additional flares, the impacts should last under an hour.
M6-CLASS SOLAR FLARE: The magnetic canopy of sunspot AR2222 erupted today, Dec. 4th at 18:25
UT, producing an M6-class solar flare: movie. At the moment there is no sign of a CME emerging from the blast site. This preliminary conclusion could be overturned by new SOHO coronagraph data in the hours ahead.
