An updated CME prediction model released by the Goddard Space Flight Center is calling for a potential impact to our geomagnetic field by December 21. http://www.solarham.net/

Strong long duration M6,9 solar flare and Earth directed CME around the  sunspots AR2241 &   AR2242 

Approximate Flare Start  :  18-12-2014 2147 UT 
Approximate Flare Maximum:  18-12-2014 2158 UT  at Flux M 6.9
Approximate Flare End    :  18-12-2014 2255 UT 
LOCATION OF HF FADEOUT: New Zealand/Hawaii/South East Pacific/Polynesia/

LARGE SUNSPOTS: A pair of large sunspots has emerged in the sun’s southern hemisphere, and they are almost directly facing Earth. 

Both of these active regions have unstable ‘beta-gamma-delta’ magnetic fields that harbor energy for strong explosions. NOAA forecasters estimate a 75% chance of M-flares and a 25% chance of X-flares on Dec. 18th & 19th.
 Because these spots are centrally located on the solar disk, any flares  will likely be Earth-directed.
