(Before It's News)

Someone asked me how concrete could have been preserved on Mars for billions of years. The following was my reply:
Mars is frozen and has little gravity, atmosphere, wind, or liquid water. So, Martian weather is totally different from Earth weather. Egyptian pyramids were made of concrete 5000 years ago (note 1) and is still standing. The Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland was made of concrete 50 million years ago (note 2) and is still standing. Humans can produce better concrete in the next 1,000 years.  So, concrete can be enduring. Concerning preservation, even dinosaur’s blood vessels can be preserved (note 3). Cells in fish’s eyes can be preserved for 300 million years (note 4). So, why can’t concrete be preserved on Mars when soft tissues and cells can be preserved on Earth?
