Earth Has Crossed Four of Nine ‘Planetary Boundaries’  ”Soon To Be Inhospitable” Scientists Warn

According to the Stockholm Resilience Centre, in 2009, a group of 28 internationally renowned climate scientists devised a framework to monitor Earth’s vital signs based on nine “planetary boundaries” within which human civilization can continue to thrive..

Johan Rockström, Swedish environmental science professor and executive director of the Stockholm Resilience Centre says we have violated four of the nine so-called planetary boundaries essential for human life on earth.
Two of those are “core boundaries”, were we would “drive the earth system into a new state.” In a recent Science Magazine report, professor Rockström expressed scientist’s concerns that humanity has already crossed four of the nine “planetary boundaries”.

“The planet has been our best friend by buffering our actions and showing its resilience,” he said. “But for the first time ever, we might shift the planet from friend to foe.”

Four of the nine boundaries have now been crossed as a result of human activity. The scientists say that two of these, climate change and biosphere integrity, are “core boundaries.” Significantly altering either of these “core boundaries” would “drive the earth system into a new state.”

  • History has shown us that life becomes almost extinct, we’ve had four extinction level events over the past 30,000yrs. Now with our industrialization, new technology ad nauseum…we still cannot stop burning those precious fossil fuels. Oil is used as a buffer, sort of like a damper on a cars suspension, water is nowhere near the viscosity of crude, yet they keep on pumping it into wells daily. It is bound to have a profound effect on the earth with more fault-lines moving and volcanoes erupting, I wonder how long we really do have left before the proverbial hits the fan? Those Oligarchs who think that they are gods will have a rude awakening before long. As sure as eggs are eggs we will be witness to a cataclismic event; volcano activity is at its highest since records began; tectonic displacement via the ring-of-fire is also on the rise, all it takes is for an earthquake close enough to those nuclear reactor plants and, well, I think you get the picture :/
