WATCH LIVE @ 7:30 p.m. ET: The Study of Black Holes Through History

You can learn all about how scientists have conceptualized, debated and studied black holes over time, during a live webcast that begins this evening (May 21) at 7:30 p.m. EDT (2330 GMT).

Author Marcia Bartusiak will discuss her new book “Black Hole: How an Idea Abandoned by Newtonians, Hated by Einstein, and Gambled on by Hawking Became Loved” (Yale University Press, 2015) during tonight’s talk, which is hosted by the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA) as part of its “Observatory Nights” series. You can watch live in the window below, or directly via the CfA here.

Bartusiak’s book “tells the story of the fierce black hole debates and the contributions of Einstein, Hawking, and other leading thinkers who completely altered our view of the cosmos,” according to CfA representatives.
