When I first looked at the above photo, I remembered long time ago when I put a digital microscope on the back of my hand and saw my red blood cells moving under my skin. The above photo also reminds me of the time when I watched meteorites under microscopes. They are all so similar. Whenever I look for blood vessel remains in microscopy, I always look for round dots in the blood vessels, because most blood vessels are transparent, thus enabling the circulating red blood cells to be visible under light microscopes. That’s why I could see my blood under my skin. NASA’s Mars rover Opportunity took the above microscopy on Sol 4075. One pixel in this photo is about 30 microns across.
