“We’re seeing features as small as half a mile,” said New Horizons scientist John Spencer during a NASA press briefing today. “The most stunning thing about this … is we have not yet found a single impact crater on this image. This means this is a very young surface.” And the mountains near the center? They’re over 11,000 feet high! “They’d stand up respectably against the Rocky Mountains,” said Spencer.
