NASA’s Mars rover Curiosity used its Hand Lens Imager to take this photo on Aug. 30, 2015 (Sol 1089) in Gale Crater, Mars. The grey material has been drilled from “Buckskin”, a rock in Marias Pass, Gale Crater. All the red lines, except one at right, go to remains of nerve cells. Note they are not shadows/cracks/matrix/minerals.
