Using Veggie, NASA’s plant growth system, flight engineer Scott Kelly grew and harvested leaves of “Outredgeous” red romaine lettuce. On Monday (Aug. 10), Kelly and Expedition 44 crewmate Kjell Lindgren became the first U.S. astronauts to (officially) eat space-grown greens, following earlier cosmonaut farmers.
