“It does indeed look very realistic, there are a lot of realistic elements in it and it’s very much appreciated from a NASA perspective,” said Jim Green, NASA’s director of planetary science, about Ridley Scott’s new film, “The Martian,” opening in theaters on Oct. 2. Green and Scott, together with NASA astronaut Drew Feustel, actor Matt Damon (“astronaut Matt Watney”) and author Andrew Weir, met recently to discuss Mars, the movie, and making space exploration “smart and cool.”
