A two-time space shuttle astronaut, Don Williams died at 74 on Tuesday (Feb. 23). Chosen with NASA’s first class of shuttle candidates in 1978, Williams flew as pilot of Discovery’s STS-51D mission in 1985 and as the commander of Atlantis’ STS-34 mission in 1989, the latter deploying the Galileo probe to Jupiter.
