Because any “democratic government” is largely engaged in the employment of those who helped vote it in and keeping all the wealth generated by the middle classes to itself, its biggest threat is from the citizens who pay for those in the ‘civil service’ who are incapable of delivering basic services to the community at large.
So attempts are made to hide any criticism of government that leaks out (all over the Internet), behind the term ‘National Security’ aka ‘job security’ for do-nothing government employees.
And crucify any leakers.
And divide its citizens – the middle classes – between ‘Taxpayers’ and ‘Takers’
