“The truth, always the truth–at all costs”
I will strive to give you perspectives on the news that you will rarely receive from other sources. At times, there will be eye-witness reports from troubled areas, at other times, there will be documentary, interviews and other interesting works.
I am committed to providing information by posting/archiving videos, articles, and links. I also investigate to raise awareness on numerous issues, inspire critical thinking, involvement, and hopefully to help make our world a better place for all.
According to a recently published report, the report states What follows is an approximate transcription of the interview.
Press TV: Tell me the significance now of what the watchdog agency is saying about that the spying basically is mostly legal according to the US constitution?
Schechter: Well this issue has become a political battle ground. The Congress recently with Republican support basically called for an end to the metadata collection program of the NSA. Of course this has not passed the Congress but it is significant that the House of Representatives supported it.
You also have not only a number of press reports but polls showing a majority support rather for Edward Snowden and belief in Edward Snowden. Now the actual NSA itself is saying well, his revelations are no big deal. We can handle it. We are not saying that it is a problem that cannot be managed. This is in contrast to what the former director of the NSA was saying.
So the NSA is trying to call in whatever political chips it can to justify what it is doing. You know, the United States constitution does not empower United States to spy on the world. It is nothing in the constitution that says yes, we have a right to violate the rights of people all over the world but that is how they are interpreting it.
It is very interesting because when the Declaration of Independence was signed and now we are going to be celebrating that declaration on July 4th just on Friday – this is Independence Day in America – it contained the provision that called for a decent respect for the opinions of mankind. The NSA is saying forget that, we have a right to spy on whoever we want to but not US persons. But of course if people overseas are in touch with US persons, they will be spied on too.
So this is an arena of tremendous deception and these various appointed panels, appointed by the NSA are trying to split the difference and support the NSA and I do not think it is going to really have much impact.
