(Before It's News)

Wanting to achieve perfection in our lives can certainly be motivating, but it can also set us up to believe we’re just not good enough if we don’t achieve the levels of perfection we set for ourselves. Forget about others having expectations of us being perfect, more often than not, we are the ones who put such demands on the levels of perfection we need to achieve and beat ourselves up when we can’t seem to reach these goals we’ve set for ourselves.

We strive for perfection in so many areas of our lives but it’s important to be mindful about what is underneath the desire for all things to be perfect and to ask yourself, what is perfection, really? These questions can serve as a point of inquiry and lead you to discover what’s really driving the agenda of setting such high levels of perfection for yourself and for others.

We all have our own perspective on what is perfect or not. What might be a perfect situation for me may not be not be perfect for you. So if perfection is real, why are there so many thoughts about what is perfect and what is not? It’s exactly that, they are just thoughts. The moment we reach one level of perfection, all of a sudden it’s not good enough and we set higher standards for ourselves and others. This is simply the mind telling us what is perfect and what is not. Try this exercise the next time you are judging whether you, someone else or something is not perfect or good enough. Pay attention and simply be aware and notice ‘oh, I’m making a judgment around perfection’. Be 100% present and then just let the situation be what it is, without the need to judge whether it’s perfect or not, and then see what you discover.

Perhaps when we all stop striving for a certain level of perfection and let go of the stress that comes along with seeking such perfection we’ll see that we can in fact love who we are with all our perceived thoughts of imperfection. What a relief to simply acknowledge and surrender to ‘I’m not perfect, and done with it. After all, it’s just a thought…..

Loneliness v. Aloneness: What’s the Difference? By Pragito Dove

Loneliness is a lack, a feeling that something is missing, a pain, a depression, a need, an incompleteness, an absence.
Aloneness is presence, fullness, aliveness, joy of being, overflowing love. You are complete.Nobody is needed, you are enough.
Love makes you complete. True lovers share each other, but that is not their need, that is their overflowing energy.

Midlife (Crisis) Transformations by Casey Kochmer

The term Midlife Crisis brings up many images. In America, it brings up deriding images of a person buying a red sports car, daydreams of flings, broken marriages and people acting as a child again. In reality, a Midlife Crisis represents a deeper possibility for a person to become their dreams. However, those dreams are hard to realize within an un-supportive society and without clear personal understanding of the actual experience. People often end up hurting themselves in the process of trying to change. A person’s life carries a lot of momentum from the past that tumbles them about heedlessly upon trying to change to be something new.
