It will take a long shot for the Giants to make the playoffs this years. They need some serious assistance along with a victory of their own to sneak in.
So, who should you be rooting for this Sunday?
First, at 1pm, you start by rooting for the Giants against the 4-11 Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles will be getting Michael Vick back at QB for the first time in six weeks after it was learned that rookie QB Nick Foles had a broken hand. Vick led the Eagles to a 19-17 win against the Giants in Week 4. Since then, Philly has won only once in eleven tries. Giants are favored by 9 1/2 in this one, so it looks like they might be able to hold up their end of the bargain.
Also at 1, the Bears travel to Detroit to take on the troubled Lions (4-11). Chicago won the first meeting, 13-7, in Week 7. A lot has happened since then. Both teams have struggled. You want the Lions to step up and bite the Bears today. The good part is, the Lions can move the ball on anyone. The bad part? They have problems scoring points. The visiting Bears are 3-point favorites. This game could go either way, but the Giants need it to go in Detroit’s favor.
At 4:25, the surging Minnesota Vikings host the Packers. The Vikings need to lose to help the Giants. Not a stretch, by any means. The Packers are getting hot, winning four straight since getting crushed by the Giants in Week 12. One of those wins was over these Vikings, 23-14. Green Bay can clinch a playoff bye with a win. Giant fans will be hoping they do.
At 8:30, the NFC East championship will be decided in Landover, MD between Wsshington and Dallas. Plain and simple, go Redskins. A Cowboys’ win eliminates the Giants. A tie or a loss is what the Giants need here. Washington beat Dallas on Thanksgiving and will attempt to sweep them for the first time in 2005.
