What does the Chargers move to LA mean for the Rams?

(Before It's News)

In January, the Chargers announced that they would be leaving San Diego for Los Angeles; a move that means that the newly relocated Rams will be sharing their stadium in Inglewood upon completion ahead of the 2019 campaign. For now, the Chargers will play all of their home games at StubHub Center in Carson.

Being completely honest, the situation is hardly ideal for either franchise. The Rams are in the middle of the relocation process whilst the Chargers are at the start of theirs; that is the main difference between the two moves.

In addition, San Diego are moving a few hours north compared to the Rams’ move across the country – and that could hinder the Rams in the long term.

More Los Angeles-based football fans are likely to side with the Chargers based purely on the fact that they may have watched more San Diego football than St Louis football in previous years.

You could claim that fans who already support a team won’t change their allegiance but the chance to watch football in the local area may attract a decent crowd.

The best sportsbooks in Las Vegas will tell you that the Chargers have a better chance of winning the Super Bowl and that is down to two things.

Firstly, the Rams are in a much tougher division – not much can be done about that. But secondly, they have a potent offensive unit and we all saw what Kyle Shanahan and Dan Quinn did with the Atlanta Falcons this year…

Chargers fans weren’t exactly happy with the move, as referenced by Melvin Gordon in a recent article on Betting Sports’ website, but they will come around in time. On paper, you could argue that the Rams have a better defensive unit than the Chargers but offensively, Anthony Lynn’s men are much stronger.

Most neutrals want to see plenty of points and offensive play so the Rams have to do their best to win over any ‘fence-sitters’ in the Los Angeles area.

This new Rams regime must hit the ground running in 2017 and Jared Goff simply has to start – Jeff Fisher’s treatment of Goff last season was disgraceful considering how much the Rams gave up to acquire the former California college star.

The Rams have to make the most of a bad situation as they plan to share football in the Los Angeles area. On paper, the Chargers are in a better situation on the field but the best sportsbooks in Las Vegas may swing back in favor of Sean McVay’s men before the start of the new season.

Jeff Fisher’s regime is over and the Los Angeles Rams will be expecting a much improved year in 2017…
