(Before It's News)

The Chicago Bears are moving on from veteran defensive back Tracy Porter, as they announced his release on Monday morning. Porter spent the last two seasons with the Bears and signed a three-year extension in 2016. But after knee injuries slowed him down last season, the Bears are ready to move into a new direction. Chicago brought in veteran cornerbacks Marcus Cooper, Prince Amukamara and B.W. Webb to add depth to a unit that was the worst in football last season. The move also saves the Bears some cash: https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/851444802658938881 Porter recorded 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and 21 pass deflections in his two years with the Bears. With the release of Porter, Chicago’s secondary sees a big overhaul in free agency. Kyle Fuller is the longest-tenured defensive back on the team but even his roster spot is in jeopardy after missing all of 2016. Chicago will likely add another cornerback and a safety in the 2017 NFL Draft as they look to get younger at a position that desperately needs to be fixed.
