Similar to what I heard a dear lady once say;

Instead of crying and despair … sometimes in life … you just have to put your big girl bloomers on and suck it up .. if you happen to be a guy … I guess it would have to be your big boy's boxers …

"There was a hole in the fuselage about 3 feet long. You could see the insulation and the wiring. You could see a tear the length of one of the ceiling panels."

Passengers described the scene to the CBS television affiliate in Sacramento, detailing the damage to the plane.

"They had just taken drink orders when I heard a huge sound and oxygen masks came down and we started making a rapid descent. They said we'd be making an emergency landing," a woman identified as Cindy told the station.

The Flybe Bombardier Q 400 was forced to turn back to Exeter International Airport, Devon, when a wheel underneath the wing came off during “retraction”.

Terrified passengers reported seeing "little sparks" coming from the wheel and a "large piece of metal" protruding from the undercarriage.

The 39 passengers and four crew on board the BE 703 flight, bound for Newcastle International Airport, all escaped serious injury.

An Australian couple and their dog emerged from the plane which crash-landed on its roof (upside down) on Brenan Street, in the Smithfield suburb of Sydney at about 12.40pm local time.

The aircraft had encountered engine difficulty and attempted to make an emergency landing, during which it took down two power cables, severing its wing and knocking out electricity to some 7,000 homes, businesses and eight sets of traffic lights.
