Curiosity Captures Descent to Mars

On the evening of Aug. 5 (PDT; Aug. 6 EDT), NASA’s rover Curiosity, landed inside Gale Crater, Mars.
The Gale Crater is a huge impact basin, 96 miles (154 kilometers) across.

As Curiosity made it’s decent to the flat crater basin, the camera on the rover’s underbelly captured hundreds of color photos of Mars. This video is a composite of those photos.
