Witness Statement: Well, from my flat I can see over Greenwich and central London. I’ve been watching the planes heading towards heathrow and various helicopters for 10 yrs so I usually know what I’m looking at.
Anyway after reading on here about sightings of a fast moving orange light “UFO” that has been seen near here in Woolwich I was a bit disgruntled that for 10 years of looking over the London skyline I had seen nothing, until last Friday night.
I was looking out towards London over Greenwich (probably smoking out the window as usual) and I saw this fast moving orange ball of light flying in a NW direction, I guess that it was just past Greenwich between Deptford High St and Surrey Quays kind of distance. It was flying at about the same height as Canary Wharf or perhaps a little lower.
I made a rough estimate of how far away the object was and how long it took to travel between 2 points then using a formula my father calculated the speed that it was travelling to be approx 2000mph.
That was a first for me and I still can not explain what it was, it was not any plane or helicopter that’s for sure, I just hope that I’ll catch another glimpse one day.
