Witness Statement: I was putting out the bin tonight where I live very close to Loch Lomond, in a village called Gartocharn at the midway point of the southern shore of the loch.
It was almost fully dark but with a very clear sky. I noticed a strange light to the north quite low over the Conic Hill on the south eastern side of the loch.
At first I thought it might be a plane, although this is not a usual flightpath, but then I noticed the light was behaving in a very strange way.
I grabbed my binoculars and called my wife out to witness the sight. The light was flashing, but in a way that made it seem as if it was darting about all over the sky with each flash.
It seemed to move a considerable distance with each flash, and it did not have the “flowing” directional trajectory you might expect of a plane. It was erratic and rather wonderful.
Through the bins I could see the flashes – both white and red – which were large but which had a kind of plasma look to them.
We watched for about a minute until it/they stopped. I clould not be sure if they disappeared over the hill, but it seemd more likely that the fladshing just ceased.
We went upstairs to look out for a reappearance which sadly did not happen.
Even my very sceptical wife admitted it was extremely strange.
