Everything's on track for the Wine N' Cheese– but I'm certainly glad that I took care of everything yesterday! On his way home from work, Gerick's car broke down! Luckily he was by a grocery store. Even more lucky, Robin was driving right by when I called her, so she was able to pick up Gerick almost as soon as he realized he was stuck! In turn, Gerick was able to call Triple A and have them pick up his car to take to the shop before the weekend hours made it more difficult.
Gerick was stressed out, and I don't blame him! After the extra, unexpected expenses coming in from the dog and my computer repair work– for the CAR to go on the blink just seemed… too fateful.
But we'll deal with it. It means that having some small savings set aside for just these sorts of things has come in extra handy. We're not exactly flush, but our world won't come apart because of a streak of bad luck, either!
I can see why people say that disasters and bad luck come in 3s– my recent life has been the perfect example. However, we've also had some weirdly awesome luck that just fell into place perfectly at the same time bad luck was striking. Robin was right next to the grocery store parking lot when I got the phone call from Gerick that the car broke down. This morning Gerick offered a co-worker a ride to work because she was going out with friends and didn't want to have to worry about her car after work. Turned out this woman lives less than a half mile away from us! She offered Gerick rides to work in return if needed, and he's already called in his chit for Monday.
Its a mixed luck sort of synchronicity that I don't know how to interpret. I'm just grateful things aren't worse and hoping things settle down into a more normal mode soon.
