I've been taking allergy medicine for some months now. The only one that works and does not put me to sleep is Allegra– so its become my standard for late summer into early autumn allergies that just leave me miserable.
In all this time, I've noticed 2 interesting side effects: it diminishes my appetite (its one half of the 'phen-fen' pairing that was used for weight loss until they realized the combo wasn't so good for your heart) and it gives me very memorable, colorful dreams.
Despite this, you may have noticed that I haven't been reporting my dreams too much. There's a reason for that– mainly, that the Allegra dreams aren't related to the 'shadows and rays' internal melodramas I've been documenting through the years. These dreams are all like scenes from movies or books and I just go into them and explore ideas from fiction or my imagination. I'm more lucid in these dreams, but not particularly interested in getting out of the fantasy scenario I find myself in.
For instance, this morning I dreamt that I was meeting a friend in a large city (like New York.) It was the early 90s and I was in my early 20s again. I was in a high price boutique looking over clothes and trying to find something to buy. I had lots of cash money on me and had the option, and I was almost overwhelmed by the choices. Customers came and went. One even stole a pair of pants I liked. I talked to the shopkeeper and her salesgirls. I looked over the fashions and tried on various things. Then when the shop was about to close I woke up, having made no actual purchases.
The whole thing was pretty pointless, but for some reason interesting enough to keep me entertained mentally– and yet relaxing enough because there was no dire melodrama to contend with. So many of my dreams have been like this since the summer. And the last thing I want to do is record, “Dreamed I went clothes shopping. Enjoyed looking, but didn't buy.” Wow… YAWN!!
So maybe I'm not having significant dreams right now, but I am dreaming very actively and remembering them, so that's a plus. And I'm enjoying my dreams a great deal. Very nice fantasy-fulfilling or fun story dreams getting to live inside movies. I've even slept in a few times JUST to dream because I was enjoying myself so much!
