Witness Statement: I was emptying the kitchen bin into the large bin in the back garden at about 5pm – it was dark. I did that and for some reason lingered. I looked up in the sky which was mostly clear with some broken low-level beige-coloured cloud. Looking north, I initially noticed what I took to be the Moon behind
some cloud – I could see the round diffuse light from it. It then occurred to me that the Moon was in the wrong place. I waited for the clouds to clear to see if it was the Moon but as the cloud cleared the light went out. I wondered whether some other dark cloud was obscuring it. Looking elsewhere in the sky I could see no such dark cloud. I could clearly see the stars through the gaps in the broken cloud. More cloud blew from the north into that place and the light came on again. That was very
odd. I went in and checked via Google sky map where the Moon should be. According to that it was in the north but below the horizon. I got out about ten minutes later. The clouds had cleared from that part of the sky and there was no Moon. So it was not the Moon. I cannot think of anything which would behave so. No noise. It was stationary against the wind. Light was white not coloured.
This is my third experience with weird lights over many years. My mother tells me she’s seen such a light in the large tree opposite and that one such light came to her window before speeding off.
