Witness Statement: We were in the space between the Saints Rugby ground and Tesco Supermarket when we saw a number of lights moving upwards South of us (towards Widnes/Speke)
We thought at first it was a plane taking off and banking from Liverpool airport, but as we watched it we noticed there were no flashing lights, no red and green lights and it was banking very sharp towards the East.
It then started banking sharply to the left before becoming two separate objects – each with 3 or 4 lights. They started crossing over each others path and where moving quite fast.
They actually flew over us making no sounds whatsoever and then disappeared into the cloud above the Saints ground.
We watched for a few minutes but didn’t see them again. They didn’t emerge from the clouds.
They definitely weren’t planes (despite coming from over Speke way) – the light patterns were not typical of any plane and there were no sounds except for a plane flying East, to the south of us and the traffic noise on the St Helen’s link way.
Very odd indeed.
