Mystery Light On Mars: What Is It?

Mystery Light On Mars: What Is It?

It’s getting harder and harder to exchange information in America. No one seems to be speaking the same language. Special-interest buzz around every issue is almost indecipherable. Even worse, everyone wants to talk, but no one wants to listen. People who should be my friends – the ones who write editorials for big-city newspapers or best-selling books on food, and their foodie followers – should want to be buddies with guys like me. Family farmers should be at the head of the table. Instead, these folks are putting us on the menu.

That’s what Lorraine Lewandrowski just talked about on Daily Yonder last week when New Yorkers forgot to include farmers in their talk about food.

But it’s not just the foodies who like to see my head on a plate. On the other end of the spectrum, big government, big agriculture and big corporations would like to be rid of me, too, because I’m not big enough to affect their bottom line.

We’ve been alienated.

How did I get to this place in time where outlanders supposedly come in peace, but put me in a pressure cooker? Like Rod Serling said in his voice over soliloquy, “Man has gone from dust to dessert, from ruler of a planet to ingredient in someone’s soup.”

“The truth, always the truth–at all costs”
I will strive to give you perspectives on the news that you will rarely receive from other sources. At times, there will be eye-witness reports from troubled areas, at other times, there will be documentary, interviews and other interesting works.
I am committed to providing information by posting/archiving videos, articles, and links. I also investigate to raise awareness on numerous issues, inspire critical thinking, involvement, and hopefully to help make our world a better place for all.

According to a recently published report, the report states When something strange shows up in a photo, people tend to speculate about what it could be. When something strange shows up in a photo of Mars, people automatically assume it must be related to extraterrestrials or aliens. Mars rover Curiosity recently snapped some photos of the red planet and sent them back to NASA. The photos seemed normal at first, but upon closer examination, a small light can be seen in the background of one photo.

When the photo was shared, many theories began turning up to explain what the light could be and how it was able to be photographed. Several people theorized that the light could be from a flashlight or lantern of an alien and a sign that there is indeed intelligent life on Mars. While NASA finds these theories interesting, they say the truth is much more boring and that the light is easy to explain.

“In the thousands of images we’ve received from Curiosity, we see ones with bright spots nearly every week,” said Justin Maki of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif. “These can be caused by cosmic-ray hits or sunlight glinting from rock surfaces, as the most likely explanations.”

Cosmic rays can cause hot spots on camera lenses and make the photos they produce appear as though they have small lights or other shapes on them. The NASA scientist who inspected the photos said that when a real object is present it will be picked up by more than one of the cameras used by the rover. Since the light only appears on the first camera, it must be a glitch or be caused by a reflection.

A photograph just released from the Mars Curiosity Rover reveals a strange nearby light that appears artificial. The image was part of a batch just uploaded from the Mars Curiosity Rover that were originally recorded on April 3, 2014 by the Right Navigation Camera. The image with the time stamp of 10:00:34 UTC shows an unusual light on the Martian surface only a mile or so away. The light does not appear to be related to the sun or any natural atmospheric phenomenon such as dust storms that have been known to produce lightning on Mars. The light is too distant to clearly identify but appears to be coming from underground suggesting an artificial light source located beneath the Martian surface.

The Curiosity Rover image was uploaded by NASA on April 3, 2014 revealing the strange Martian light. There is no nearby atmospheric activity such as a dust storm that the image or other images in the same batch from the Curiosity Rover reveal. Dust storms can produce lightning as was observed in imagery taken by the Mars Orbiter Camera in June 2006 that was the first confirmation of lightning on Mars.

Another possible explanation is underground lightning which happens on Earth due to the rotation of molten metal beneath the Earth’s crust which creates rotating electric fields vital for creating a powerful magnetosphere. Mars, however, has no inner crustal dynamo comparable to Earth, and its magnetosphere is a fraction of Earth’s. It is therefore unlikely that underground lightning is a naturally occurring phenomenon on Mars. The light emission in the Curiosity Rover image is not likely a result of underground lightning.

Another explanation may be lens flare which is caused by a light source just outside of the image field being captured on camera. The most common source of lens flare is the setting or rising sun. However the light in the Curiosity Mars Rover does not appear to be a lens flare caused by the sun given the lack of shadows in the nearby terrain. If the light source was from the Curiosity itself, then that would have been observed in the Mars images.

If both dust storm and underground lightning is ruled out, together with lens flare, then it raises the possibility that the light is an emission from some artificial underground source. Consequently, the light anomaly recorded by the Curiosity Rover may be evidence of an underground base on Mars.

A speck of bright light that appears to be coming from the surface of Mars has the UFO fan community buzzing.

The shot was taken by right hand camera of NASA’s rover Curiosity. The left hand camera, which works in tandem with it, shows no such detail in its view of the same scene.

For most, the working theory is that it’s a glitch involving the loss of some pixelated information. It did, after all, travel all the way from Mars to Pasadena, California, where the image was received.

UFO aficionados have several other explanations.

Among the most popular is that there is intelligent life on Mars and they live underground. The speck of luminosity is evidence that they use artificial lighting much in the way we Earthlings do.

NASA’s true intentions on Mars were also called into question, with one blogger accusing them of being there to delay finding proof of life rather than searching for it.

The space agency hasn’t commented on the photo, but media outlets have asked that experts at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory take a closer look at it.

Thanks MegaVinny73 for linking this in the comments!

This is already making the rounds big-time but first WFR has heard of it so take a look!

Very bright object appears in a Mars rover image from Apr 3, 2014. The overall exposure is very dark compared to the average rover image so the light really stands out. A Fox article linked below quotes a NASA rep as saying this is likely either a vent-hole leak on the right navcam or a “glinty rock”. Well ok, I’ll buy it but haven’t seen anything quite like it in other images.

What is that? Debunk away, debunkers : )

  • Whatever…really…You will never know…

  • I like the Alien possibility so much more then the working theory that it’s a glitch involving the loss of some pixelated information.
