Can you even imagine this one. Its a rare squid with very human looking teeth. Promachoteuthis sulcus is its scientific name and I know for sure that I wouldn’t want to put my finger in its mouth. No indeed.
Yes meet Promachoteuthis sulcus which is a bizare creature right out of your nightmares. As you can see this thing looks like it does indeed have freakishly human looking teeth. Its a species of promachoteuthid squid and only one specimen has been captured in modern times. It was the specimen in the photo above and it was captured in 2007 in the southern atlantic ocean at a depth of 2000 meters.
Where Did This Squid Come From?
P. sulcus is known from a single specimen caught by the German research vessel R/V Walther Herwig in an open net off Tristan da Cunha, southern Atlantic Ocean (36°49′S 12°17′W), at a depth of 1,750–2,000 m (5,740–6,560 ft).
You know there really is no wonder what else is lurking out there in the oceans depths. Only 5 to 7 percent of the world’s oceans have been explored so man really has no ideal what may be out there in the ocean depths.
