Have you ever wondered where did Halloween get its start? Well you don’t have to wonder any longer because here we tell you everything you ever wanted to know about Halloween and where it first got its start. You may find it hard to believe but those very first Jack O Lanterns back in Ireland were made out of large turnips with a carved face and a small bit of candle inside. It was not until the custom came to America that pumpkins started being used as Jack O Lanterns. Did you know that you can trace a photo or stencil onto a pumpkin and then cut it out. That’s how they make those really nice carved pumpkins that you have always wondered about.

You can take your children or grand children out to a local pumpkin patch and let them pick out a pumpkin. Take along a camera and get some really great photos. You’ll find that some pumpkin patches offer ghost stories and hot chocolate. We have a local pumpkin patch here that has a Bon Fire each weekend night and they serve hot chocolate, pop corn balls and they tell a couple of spooky ghost stories. Then everyone is invited to go pick out their favorite pumpkin to take home with them. We go at least a couple of times a year and we always have a great time.
Children love to go Trick Or Treating and a group of us usually decorate up our homes and the children visit each home to go trick or treating. We know all the people they are going to be visiting that evening and we know that the children are safe.
