You should all know by now how I like to keep an eye open for some of the stranger and more “out there” stories, and the following two certainly fits that bill! First up theres the serial killing grandmother from Russia & then theres news of witch hunts in 2015, yes, WITCH HUNTS!
Remember the name, Tamara Samsonova! Thats the name of the serial killing granny from Russia. The International Business Times reports the following….
Police are carrying out a search for 10 more victims of the suspected cannibal landlady Tamara Samsonova. The 68-year-old was arrested after CCTV footage of her carrying out plastic bags believed to contain a cooking pot with the head of her victim Valentina Ulanova. Her life story will be the focus of an exhibition at the Horrors of St Petersburg museum. “It could be done as a little video,” said director Mikhail Aleksandr.
“First showing the heroes of Dostoevsky, Gogol and other writers, then moving to the real horrors of St Petersburg. Life is more terrible than all our stories about it.” During Samsonova’s court appearance she said: “I did it to be known as a serial killer.” And as she blew kisses from her seat, she told the judge: “I have been preparing for this trial for 10 years. Like I claim in the video, a real life GRANibal Lecter!! Then, onto the second bizarre story. Witch hunting in 2015! Yup, thats right, like things couldnt get any more screwed up right now, we have people being hunted down and killed for being under SUSPICION of witchcraft.
Whats even more disturbing than this incident is the fact that this is a problem that has claimed the lives of thousands since the year 2000! The Daily Mail reports….
Five women have been beaten to death by dozens of villagers in India who accused them of practicing witchcraft and blamed them for a series of misfortunes in the area.
Residents of Kinjia village, around 40km (25 miles) from Jharkhand state capital Ranchi, dragged the women out of their homes and attacked them with sticks and iron rods on Saturday, said Arun Kumar Singh, a deputy inspector-general of police in Ranchi.
The attackers blamed the women for several accidents and misfortunes suffered by villagers, including the death of an infant in Kinjia earlier in the week, Singh said. (read full story HERE)
Now what I would love you to do is take the media coverage and global outrage at the hunting down of these 5 women, and compare it to that for Cecil the lion. Never has there been, in my opinion, a better demonstration as to how the media will hype certain stories before others, and the effect it has on the mass population, well, those that dont dare question the so called reality being painted around them.
