The story is this:
“During a Jeb Bush fundraiser, a man in the crowd raised a strange question which led to a … surprising response by former president and CIA director, George H.W. Bush The man asked Bush Sr when the US government would tell Americans the truth about UFOs, to which he responded: “Americans can’t handle the truth” before the questioning was briefly halted by organizers of the event.” [Italics mine]

Well now, (chuckles lightly) that really isn’t true. Americans can handle any thing that comes their way. What you mean to say former mister president, is that you might not be able to handle our reaction, depending on whether or not you are held culpable actions we might deem criminal or otherwise unsavory.
Right?
