Back Spasm Pain!

(Before It's News)

There are days when I think it was wise not to breed. For instance, this weekend…

My mother's family have inherited back problems, including an extra vertabre bone in our spine. Periodic back spasms are another curse, which all the women seem to have particular issues with. I get along better than most, but I tend to get about one a year that just wrecks things for days.

This weekend I was due, apparently!

I woke up Sunday morning with an incredibly sore back. Evidently I'd had back spasms in my sleep but had not awakened (which is hard to believe) and could barely move from the ache of it on my left side. I managed to get up and about, but it was very tender all day.

Monday morning I awoke to the pain of a new bout of back spasms! OH MY GODS! Its hard to remember that pain until it returns full force, but its basically a charlie horse in your back instead of your calves. I couldn't move! I had an appointment to get ready for, so I slowly started to pull my muscles out of the spasm (like you do when you point your toes UP to stop a charlie horse, even though it hurts like hell to do it). It took me an hour to become mobile enough to get out of bed so I could go to the bathroom! The spasm radiated out from the middle left of my back and was incredibly hard to stop. I couldn't help but yell out loud every time I attempted to move even a little. (My cat was pretty freaked out.)

See– how does one cope with this stuff alone? I got through it in this case, but it scares me to think of being totally disabled without my husband to help me out, as he has for this type of situation and countless others. Not a comforting prospect at all when it comes to considering my future…

I will have a back that hurts for DAYS after this and will be prone to spasms if I move wrong in the slightest way. Thrills.
