After yesterday's panic attack, Cat thought– if I was up for it– that a day out of the house might help. So… we went to buy movie tickets, then went out to lunch during Happy Hour at an Italian restaurant, then spent time at a discount book store, then a gaming store. I got tired a couple of times, but overall I was enjoying myself. No residual social or public anxiety thankfully.
THEN it was time to watch the movie Dr. Strange in 3D!!!
No spoiler needed to advise readers to watch this movie in 3D. It is totally worth it. The spoiler is– some trippy scenes that just wouldn't have the same impact otherwise. In fact, I'm hoping to go see it again in the theater.
[One thing I enjoy about being divorced--? I actually get to go to movies at theaters a few times a year. My husband goes with his lovers (and then bitches about it because very few new things please him I guess) but I would be extraordinarily lucky to get him to take me to a movie more than once every two years or something!]
I LOVED loved LOVED Tilda Swinton (see daily icon LJ viewers) who played “The Ancient One”. I know there was controversy about giving the role to a white woman, but she nailed it as far as I'm concerned. Plus I just adore Tilda Swinton anyway! She's piercingly ethereal, if that makes any sense. She's got PRESENCE, very powerfully, yet in this understated way. Hard to explain, but– WOW!
And Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange was AWESOME!!!!!
Great action movie. Great special effects. Wonderful thought-provoking concepts for the story about magick! Really fun trip that I totally recommend!
And I'm feeling completely fine today. No anxiety issues at all. I talked to Cat about everything and she was great. Listened very understandingly and was totally supportive and helped me re-set by getting me out of the house to have some fun and it worked!
