So, will we send a vanguard of space ships to the planet(s) in the star system this ship will explore, and do so for generations?

What a pipe dream, and waste of taxpayer money. You could never communicate with it, as it would not have enough power to transmit a signal strong enough to get back to earth. Let’s figure out another way to bilk the taxpayers.
