While you may have a HUGE stockpile of food, water, meds, guns & ammo, it is still a mostly non-renewable resource. Canned goods have a shelf life. Dehydrated and LTS food will last for years, but there is no way that you could store enough for YEARS. Water is a must to every human, but at 1 gal. per person per day, your supplies will have to be renewed from another source. Shell casings and brass, while re-usable, are limited to the amount of times that they can be re-loaded. Medicines have a definite shelf life and if a situation arises that necessitates the use of your preps, well, you will need some sort of back-up.
I urge everyone to develop an extensive library of reference books on as many subjects as possible. First aid, food prep and storage, survival tips and techniques, animal husbandry, gardening, edible wild plants, shelter, EMP, fallout, security & defense, communications, woodworking, craftes, candlemaking, beekeeping, woodlore, hunting/fishing, trapping, and combat triage/surgery are just a few of the referenc books I’d recommend.
Also, I would highly recommend PRACTICING everything that you may need in a PAW/SHTF scenario. Practice on a regular basis. Set up a scheduleif necessary. You need to be able to utilize all of your “stuff” and be able to find a suitable substitute once your supplies are depleted.
