(Before It's News)

I see listings of preparedness related expos online from time to time. In recent years more and more municipalities, local fire departments, the Red Cross, CERT and others are doing their part to enlighten people about what to do in the event of an emergency or natural disaster.

If you watch your local newspaper closely, you might find out about a workshop or class on disaster preparedness near you. You can also find out about preparedness classes and meet-ups in Prepare Magazine.

Larger expos for preppers are popping up more frequently around the country as well. It’s not possible for me to tell you about all of them. It’s likely I’d miss one if I tried. But here are a couple I know of which are coming up in September.

A Self Reliance Expo is taking place in Hickory, North Carolina, on September 14th and 15th. Speakers include…

  • Dr. Bones & Nurse Amy
  • David Kobler, Co-owner/Co-founder of Practical Preppers LLC
  • JACK SPIRKO, Host of “The Survival Podcast”
Find out more at http://www.selfrelianceexpo.com/.

For those out West, Spokane, WA, is the site for the Second annual Sustainable Preparedness Expo on September 30th. Senator Roscoe Bartlett is the keynote address speaker. Find out about seminars, vendors, instructional information, special group discounts and more by going to www.SustainablePreparedness.com.

Preparedness expos are a great way to meet up with other like-minded preppers. Get instruction and guidance on vital prepping and survival topics from seminar speakers. And discover firsthand preparedness products offered by various vendors.

And just a reminder, FEMA is commemorating September as National Preparedness Month again this year. Find out more at http://community.fema.gov/connect.ti/READYNPM.
