(Before It's News)

Some of us prep for short term wilderness or disaster scenarios. Some of us prep for long term teotwawki scenarios. We are all preppers but how many of us think about the ultimate prep for our families? Someone recently brought up this subject so I started asking some preppers I know about it and most had no life insurance and had not really thought about it. Even though I am guilty myself I still thought this odd as this is a logical prep. I figure it’s just because it’s not brought to our attention enough so here is some information on life insurance.

Buying life insurance is usually not a task that everyone jumps at doing. It can be confusing, it can be time-consuming, and it can be tedious. However, there are many benefits to having life insurance coverage, and it’s one of the ultimate, selfless forms of emergency preparedness. If you have kids, and if you have a mortgage or any other responsibilities, then it can help to offer invaluable protection for you and your family.

Buying life insurance online is not only easier than other options, it can also be cheaper as well. Here are some of the benefits of buying online, and some tips on “surviving” the purchasing process.

Easy to Research

You can Google pretty much anything and find out the answers you need in seconds. The same applies to life insurance. The key to saving money on life insurance is getting the right policy for you. There are numerous types of insurance that all fall under the life insurance category, so use your online researching skills to find out as much as possible about insurers, policies, features and products.

Easy to Compare

Comparison sites are another excellent resource when shopping for life insurance. Using a comparison site means you can check out what’s available, get a rough idea on pricing, and make a shortlist of your options. Once you have narrowed down your list, be sure to look at each policy in more depth to make sure it gives you the cover you need. Also be aware that some comparison sites usually provide the cheapest estimate on your policy price, so what you see, may not be what you get. To confirm pricing, you can always check out a provider’s website directly. The GIO site is one such example.

Easy to Find Out How Much You Need

Online calculators have become extremely popular recently, and for good reason. Using a life insurance calculator can help you figure out how much cover you need, quickly and easily. Many people with life insurance are either under-insured or over-insured, so it is important to make sure you know the level of cover that is right for you.

Easy to Read The Small Print

One of the most important aspects of choosing life insurance is making sure you understand exactly what you are getting. Choosing life insurance online means you have easy access to all the small print, and you can take all the time you need to read it and absorb it. Check for any exclusions that may hinder claims you may need to make, and be sure the policy is suitable for your needs.

Easy to Tailor Your Policy

Another great thing about buying online is the ability to tailor each policy to suit you. Many providers offer different ways to tailor the insurance on offer. This can include changing the levels of cover, and adding on riders (extra features). By tailoring your policy, you know you are getting exactly what you need, at the best price.

Easy to Save Money!

Many insurance providers offer discounts just for buying online. Most companies now know that it is cheaper for them to operate online, so they offer discounts and special offers to encourage their customers to buy online as well. Look around for percentage discounts on premiums, one or two months free per year, or regular cashback opportunities for not making a claim.
