Ramsey County, Minn. Pheasants Forever Chapter Newest in State
Pheasants Forever
St. Paul, Minn. --(Ammoland.com)- Pheasant hunters and conservationists in Ramsey County, Minnesota, have formed the state’s newest Pheasants Forever (PF) chapter.
The Ramsey County Pheasants Forever chapter is committed to creating and improving habitat and giving youth opportunities to experience the outdoors. The chapter is led by longtime Pheasants Forever supporter and Pheasants Forever Patron Member Terry Johnson.
“While Pheasants Forever has over 600 chapters and 130,000 volunteers nationwide, we are proud to call Ramsey County home,” says Howard K. Vincent, Pheasants Forever, Inc. and Quail Forever (QF) President and CEO, “Terry is one of Pheasants Forever’s outstanding volunteers, so we couldn’t have been more pleased when he told us he wanted to start a Ramsey County chapter. I am confident that Terry’s enthusiasm and dedication to our conservation mission will prove successful for wildlife and volunteers in Ramsey County.”
Ramsey County, Minn. Pheasants Forever Chapter Newest in State
Prior to Johnson starting the Ramsey County Pheasants Forever chapter, Ramsey County was under the leadership of the Washington/Ramsey County Pheasants Forever chapter. The chapter, now referred to as Washington County Pheasants Forever chapter, is led by Chapter President David Foster and continues to advance youth outdoor education and area conservation in Washington County.
Johnson, a civil engineer for the Minnesota Department of Transportation, originally hails from Iowa, where he grew up hunting pheasant and quail. It wasn’t until Johnson moved to Minnesota 16 years ago that he was “truly introduced to the outdoors.” Johnson initially became involved with “The Habitat Organization” in 2003 after attending the organization’s first Pheasant Fest. Since then, he has been an active member of the Anoka County Pheasants Forever chapter, serving as an executive committee member.
One of the chapter’s goals is to increase membership within Ramsey County, particularly youth and urban participation.
“Rather than just read a magazine or watch a television show, I strongly believe that every person should become involved with the outdoors on some level,” says Johnson, “Conservation is for everyone; it’s unprejudiced. To be a conservationist, you just have to appreciate the wonder of the outdoors and all that it has to offer.”
“With Pheasants Forever’s ‘hometown’ recognition in Ramsey County, I am looking forward to working with the community in making the Ramsey County chapter the organization’s strongest grassroots chapter,” added Johnson.
Ramsey County Pheasants Forever’s first meeting is scheduled for 7:00pm, October 24 at Champps in Maplewood, located at 1734 Adolphus Street.
