The Mid Atlantic States are receiving a one – two punch and it is not a nice sight.

Here is some information about the newest storm.

• Strong coastal low pressure system formed east of the Mid-Atlantic

• Temperatures – upper 20s to mid 30s – Northeast & New England

• Moderate coastal flooding possible during high tide in northern NJ

• Rain changed over to snow during overnight snowfall accumulations:

 

Massachusetts:

• 2 – 5 inches lower elevations; up to 8” higher elevations

• Rhode Island: 2 – 5 inches

• Connecticut: 6 -12 inches

 

New York:

• 2 – 4 inches (Bronx) 3-9 inches (Nassau/New York Counties)

• 4 – 6  inches Queens County

 

New Jersey:

• 3 – 6 inches across southern portions of the state; 5.6” Newark

• Close to 12 inches in northern New Jersey

 

Pennsylvania: up to 2 inches

 

Impacts:

• Strong winds w/ gusts of 60 -75 mph reported RI & MA

• Downed trees and power lines reported in southeastern MA

• Snow expected to continue in New England through this afternoon

 

Power Outages as of 7:00 a.m. EDT, Nov 8

• 678,344 (-9,975 ) customers remain without power (peak 8,511,251)

• Massachusetts: 6,449 (-6,301)

• Connecticut: 545 (-8,537)

• New Jersey: 366,831 (-18,551)

• New York: 289,382 (-3,876) 

• West Virginia: 15,137 (-671)

 

Open Shelters as of 7:00 a.m. EDT, Nov 8

• 114 (-5) shelters with 9,233 (-19) occupants

• New Jersey: 62 (-2) shelters with 4,229 (+68) occupants

• New York: 33 (+6) shelters with 4,891(-48) occupants

• West Virginia: 17(-9) shelters with 89 (- 78) occupants

• Connecticut: 1 shelter with 9 occupants

• Pennsylvania: 1 shelter with 15 occupants
