(Before It's News)

We posted on our Facebook page:

Jacob Strosnider asked below: “I was thinking of making a Altoids survival tin can. What should I put in it?”

Some comments we received:

Comment #1: Poke holes in it and rip up small strips of linen and when fire is reduced to super hot coals stick the tin with linen in it… It will create good fire starter strips…

Comment #2: Everything! Haha, put some fishing stuff in there like hook and some line, fire starter like matches lighter cotton balls, mini mirror (could glue it to the lid), whistle (or wear that around your neck), knife (or wear a bigger one on your belt), compass, bandaids, neosporin, aspirin and water tablets.

Comment #3: Firestarter, tinder, fishing line, hooks, magnifying glass, small knife, one of those saws that coils up, small roll of duct tape (very small!), bandaid, small pen or pencil, folded or rolled piece of paper, compass (with a mirror on it), plastic whistle. Maybe it won’t all fit, but these are some ideas.

Comment #4: I threw one together with some heavy duty foil, fishing line, small hooks, sinkers, sewing needle, wire saw, band aids, water purification tabs, homemade knife made out of a piece of bandsaw blade, the striker and tinder from an avaitor’s fire starting kit, a debit card with some duct tape wrapped around it, and a couple of aspirins and pepto tablets. Send me a PM and I’ll hook you up with a couple of pics.

Comment #5: I have one attached to by bk2. It contains 2 razors, aluminum foil, quart size freezer bag, small flashlight, wire saw, ferro rod, bank line, fishing line, and an allen wrench to fit the screws in the handle of the bk2, which is where I keep a fishing kit ( hooks, weights, line, and a few small lures),

Comment #6: Small pocket knife, water proof matches, (you can make your own by dipping the strike anywhere matches in candle wax) camping saw, (these are no bigger than a strand of wire) some fishing hooks and a length of thin wire for fishing.. The cotton balls soaked in Vaseline is a good idea if you find your self in wetlands, but your average pine cone is a great fire starter on it’s own… so lets save the room for water purification tablets… and a small pouch of your daily needed medication. At least a weeks worth. I know I can go three days without my blood pressure meds before starting to feel sick.
